Joung Lab

We are a vibrant, collaborative group of scientists at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School studying the applications and development of programmable engineered DNA binding domains. Led by Dr. J. Keith Joung, our work focuses primarily on two goals: developing genome-editing technologies, which seek to safely and specifically modify the hereditary  nucleic acid sequence of genetic material in cells, thereby enabling rapid reverse-genetics studies and potentially even therapeutic applications; and epigenome-editing, which refers to transient modifications of regulatory states of target genes that can be used to study the mechanisms of gene regulation.
